Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. Students will begin with a strong foundation in Swedish Massage and gradually add on other modalities within the 500 hour program
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Various techniques will be demonstrated with proper use of hands, knuckles, and elbows and applying focused pressure on “problem areas†or “trigger points†in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Students will also be versed in a variety of pathologies which may indicate the appropriate use of Deep Tissue techniques.
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function. Students will have a well developed understanding of various aspects of Sports Massage involving Pre and Post Event massage, Training and Maintenance, and Rehabilitative/Medical Massage.
Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes. Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, students will be able to properly address most pre-natal health concerns regarding a massage application.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
Stone Therapy is a type of bodywork that uses deep penetrating heat and/or alternating cold from specialized stones. The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven. Students will be trained and educated in the proper application and care of equipement needed for Stone Therapy.
Medical Massage differs from Swedish Massage in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor. A variety of modalities or techniques will be taught with the intent to address the physician's diagnosis focusing the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis. Students will learn to strive to enhance the body’s natural self-healing process and reduce the needed recovery time from injury.
Chair massage otherwise known as On-Site massage is a blend of asian bodywork, deep tisssue, and Swedish massage techniques which are applied within a public location. The focus of the course will be on marketing, proper set-up, bodymechanics and professional development.
Aromatherapy Students will learn the foundations necessary to utilize essential (aromatherapy) oils in their practice for enhancing the relaxing or therapeutic needs of their clients. Students will create their own aromatherapy products for personal use or for retail.
Asian Bodywork is a compilation of the Eastern style of massage. Students will learn the history and philosophy of Acupressure and Anma which are the foundations of all asian bodywork. A variety of techniques will be demonstrated and then applied by the students in the program and easily intergrated into their developing routines.
Hydrotherapy will cover the multiple uses of water in the healing process. Students will be familiar with the ancient and contemporary uses of Hydrotherapy as well as the medical applications.
